...there lived a girl named Sophie. That would be me. Spoiler alert: yes, I do live in a castle and no, there are no witches or poisoned apples involved in this story.
Do you know that phase toddlers get in when they constantly question everything and ask their parents 'Why?' Well, I believe I am still in that phase as many things leave me very curious. One of those things is people. Why do people do the things they do, and more specifically why do people choose to buy or like certain brands while others don't? It was this question that made me decide to study Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam, where I got both my BSc and MSc in Persuasive Communication. During my studies, I found out that besides branding and strategy I had another passion: graphic design. As I had no background in this area, I started learning by doing, and the designs I made since then are the results of the previously mentioned curiosity.
My internships at ad agencies (Publicis & TBWA) confirmed my interest in advertising and creative design. This is also where the digital aspect of marketing caught my eye. The constant movement and shifting in boundaries intrigued me as it asks for brands to immediately adapt to these changes and answer to the needs of the consumer. Innovation is key here, as the innovator shapes the change rather than follows it. It answers questions before you even knew what the question was.
